Venezuela-Santa Fe-Mochima
With its abundance of tourist services, are two of the most popular with visitors and residents. Santa Fe has the advantage of having a nice beach. In more Mochima hosting offers, but has no beach. However, boaters provide transportation to the beaches of nearby islands within the national park.
SANTA FE There are options with the only access, or the back parking lot in the case of sites on the beach, from the street parallel to the beach at 50 m from the sea. Coming from Puerto La Cruz, take the first entrance to the village (with notice to Santa Fe Resort) which leads to the passenger terminal. Stop by the front until the last street before the beach and turn right. The first offer is inn Las Palmeras (0293-231.0008) with spacious rooms in the rear. Six triples in PA (no TV) have fan (low temp / high - BsF 70/100), the four-pointers in PB have AA and TV (BsF 100/200), also in PB is a suite with kitchen / dining -room (with 2 single beds), separate room with double, single and TV (BsF 150/300). All with bath / hot water with each cooler.
There is direct access to the beach between Hotel Las Palmeras and Cochaima (0293-642.0728). The latter has 21 rooms with bath / cold water (for 2 - BsF 120). It offers a home for 16 in four rooms, kitchen, two bathrooms (BsF 800) and an annex for five with three bedrooms and two bathrooms (BsF 400). Eating on request for groups.
Later, Le Petit Jardin tourist lodge (0293-231.0036) changed hands, the handle Audrey, Cyril and Raphael, French youth. The five rooms have private bath / cold water, AA (for 2 - BsF 200). In the backyard is a pool table in the shade of palm trees, sun loungers, covered terrace and furnished. Optional: French breakfast, laundry, snorkeling equipment.
Entering the village via the main street two blocks from the beach is perched Sea & Sky (0293-231.0010). PA are nine rooms in the house of the owners. All with cable TV, bath / cold water, AA (for 2 - BsF 130/140). Parking for four cars and a large terrace roof with barbecue, refrigerator, tables.
Continue on the road to the sea that ends in an area where trucks load their purchases of fishermen. This is the main access to the beach, one of the cleanest in Venezuela thanks to the efforts of the innkeepers themselves. They have teamed up to keep it free of trash.
Another note is the water of the Gulf in front of Santa Fe are ideal for rowing and indeed almost every morning can be seen with the youth of this area (which have won many national and international awards) by training. Excellent restaurant next to the Yacht Club at the start of the beach, Oasis Kaffe (0293-231.0084). You do not have a coffee but it does offer the use of a kitchen to customers in its 13 options (including an apartment for four with kitchen and 2 bathrooms - a BsF 230/270) with bath / hot water, AC and cable TV (for 3 - BsF 130/160). There is also a lounge with AA for 50 and parking. Other sites mentioned in Santa Fe are on the beach and have rear parking.
Posada-Café del Mar (0416-896.4111) is 50 m below, with a casual restaurant in front (martes-dom., 7:00 am-11: 00 pm). It consists of 14 rooms (all for 2 with a full side glass doors, bath / cold water, fan, 2 TV and AA - BsF 100). A covered terrace on the third floor with a beautiful view has loungers, tables, sofas and TV. The new owners, Mary and Roger Alcatraz (mother and son), are implementing many improvements.
Another place under new ownership, Marco Tulio Gonzalez, The Crab is fifth (for rsvnes.: 0293-231.0027). He has made positive changes in decor, added two more rooms (for a total of 6 with bath / shower 3 with crown), AA, TV and small refrigerator (for 2 - BsF 80/100). Options include the use of a kitchen, computer access and laundry service.
My favorite site is The Sierra Inn (0293-231.0042). The owner, Jose Vivas, has been the driving force behind the organization of innkeepers and people to raise their awareness on the importance of cleanliness and safety of the beach. The inn has a module with 11 comfortable rooms (all with bath / shower crown, AA, 4 TV - BsF 124 for 2 with TV), furnished terrace, living room with library and other interior area with Internet access. Next door is a hut with a terrace furnished in PA plus PB area with tables and grills. Another option is the "doll house" (king more bunk, bathroom, kitchen, terrace type balcony, AA, TV - BsF 292). There is a laundry for guests and tables for dominoes on the beach. In low season, Mon-Thur, stay 3 nights pay only 2!
Residence Los 7 Delfines (0293-808.8064) has 14 comfortable rooms (with bathroom / cold water, AC, cable TV, safety box is, for 2 - BsF 140/157), a PA terrace with sea view, table pool, deck chairs, tables and a casual restaurant in front. Optional are laundry service, transfers by boat.
Playa Santa Fe Resort (0293-808.8249) has 11 simple options (minus 2 suites with nice furniture and some decorating, 2 single beds or one king) of different styles (for 2 - BSF 120, suite - BsF 190), a apartment for four with kitchenette (BsF 250), and a separate house (for 6, with 2 rooms, kitchen, living room - BsF 300). All have bathroom (most with hot water), cable TV, fans. The main hooks are the beautiful gardens and multiple outdoor spaces within the main module to be alone or together with other guests. There is a new area with four single cabins, with barbecue, sink, food preparation area, table / benches.
Bahia Mar (0293-231.0073) has 9 rooms with bathroom / cold water, AA (for 2 - BSF 120) and fourth honeymoon at the third level (sea view, bed, hammock, fan, TV cable and music videos - BsF 170). There is a hut with kitchen, barbecue and tables. Optional: custom meals, transfers to the islands, snorkeling equipment and kayaks.
MOCHIMA The numerous kiosks selling empanadas on the output to Mochima from the road are the answer to "Where are we going to have breakfast before leaving for the islands?".
By entering Mochima go straight the street from the sea. Will have a new community playground to the right and the left a row of houses from the street. At the end there is an entry; between these houses there are several inns. The best is The Ambassador (0293-416.3437); are 15 rooms with bath / cold water and AA, the PA with TV. PA has a balcony furnished with TV and sea view (for 2 - BSF 150). Optional are transfers to the islands and canopies rental in Playa Blanca where the owners have a restaurant. Provide "full day" tour boat with up to 7 beaches, snorkeling equipment and awnings, lunch (BsF 150 p / p). In the same way come to the pier and public parking. Prices and back up to 5 people, are: Maritas, Barge, Playa Blanca - BsF 80; Cautaro or Cautarito - BSF 90; Manare - BSF 100, short walk to see five islands - BsF 150; ride dolphins - to be arranged.
On the east side of the pier in Puerto Viejo CC building, the restaurant of artist Carlos Rojas is one of the most popular. Besides food can appreciate their pictures on the walls and ceilings of the tables. In the same building is Doña Cruz Inn (0293-416.6114) of the parents of Rojas, with contact through the entry that looks like a barn but it also contains your home. It offers three rooms (double, bath / cold water, AA - BsF 130).
At the end of the street is the Hut of Kine, a pleasant restaurant with affordable prices. From the entrance to town, instead of following the road from the sea, take the first left (the principal) to reach the highest concentration of the inns. Casa Cruz (0414-773.5535) is on the right before the square with a little warning of "shelter." It is of the same family of Mrs. Cross and inn run by Carlos Rojas. The four rooms have bath / cold water, AC, cable TV, fridge in the hallway and porch furnished for common use (for 2 - BSF 150).
Sunflower Inn (0293-416.0535), behind the owners house, has four small double bedroom (BsF 150/160) and two suites for 4 with terrace (BsF 250/300), all with AC, TV, bathroom / water cold cooler.
