On Wednesday 17 February, returned from Cuba a group of officers seconded to the Ministry of Popular Power for Tourism (Mintur), after receiving extensive training regarding the categorization of non-hotel accommodations and applied in that country, with the aim of nurture and improve related processes in Venezuela.

The training began in mid-January as part of the Cuba-Venezuela Agreement, addressed issues of interest such as evaluation systems, instrumentation, equipment and rules for categorization of lodges, camps, hotels and food service, and certification .

In this regard, workers were able to meet the planning of tourist destinations in the region, its management systems and quality of service provided.

Elvia Millán, Coordinator of the group, said that "the experience was quite interesting and enriching. We had the opportunity to meet the categorization process used by Cubans, not just theoretical but also practical, in fact we toured many hotels and restaurants as important tourist destination. "

Meanwhile, Ingrid Chópite, the general direction of Inspection and Survey Mintur described as "excellent" this activity. "The course covered my expectations. They were 30 days of ongoing research. It is my first trip to Cuba and would not hesitate to return. It is a country highly qualified and highly trained in processes of categorization and management of tourist quality. I have all the hopes we can provide the tools learned for the improvement of the Venezuelan system.

During his stay, the staff had the opportunity to visit major tourist icons of the sister Republic. "We were taken to Varadero, Cabaret Tropicana and Havana Vieja. The attention of the Cuban was pretty rewarding," said Karen Quintero, Bureau of Quality Tourism.

It is expected that by next March, new officers assigned to the Vice Ministry of Quality and Tourism Services Mintur, traveling to Cuba, under the agreement envisages the training of a total of 30 inspectors. (Press Inatur / María Prado)
